Incident Management Seminar

The Incident Management Seminar, now in its second year, is an event run by the University of Manchester Hiking club, in association with the British Mountaineering Council and University of Manchester Students' Union, aimed at bringing together good practice and practical skills for those who venture into the mountains.

Last year the event involved lectures and practical seminars alongside time to network and meet others from both student and non-student clubs.

Topics covered include:

  • Preparation for your time on the hill
  • Key and core skills and how to acquire them
  • Assessing risk
  • Outdoor hazards and good practice
  • Coping with the unexpected in the outdoors
